Reach Out App

The
Reach Out App

Training ends. The support does not. The Reach Out App keeps everything you learned in your pocket ready the moment a situation arises, six months from now or eighteen months from now, whenever you need it most.

The Problem With Training

Here Is The Problem With Most Training

People go on training courses and they learn. They leave the room feeling informed, confident and ready. And then life happens. The day-to-day demands of work take over. Weeks pass. Months pass.

And when a situation arises when a colleague is struggling, when a manager needs to have a difficult conversation, when someone is not sure what to do the knowledge that was so clear in the training room starts to feel distant. What was the right thing to say? What does the policy say? Who should they contact?

This is not a failure of the training. It is how the human mind works. Knowledge that is not regularly used or reinforced fades. And in a subject as important as mental health, fading knowledge has real consequences for the people who need support.

The Reach Out App was built to solve exactly that.

Six months from now, eighteen months from now when it matters most, everything is right there.

What The Reach Out App Is

Everything You Need. In Your Pocket. Always Up To Date.

The Reach Out App is the ongoing connection between Piece of Mind Training and every learner, manager and organisation we work with.

It is not a static resource that sits on your phone gathering dust. It is a living tool that reflects exactly what your organisation has with us and grows as your relationship with us grows. The training content you have completed, the policies specific to your organisation, the support services you have access to, the updates when legislation changes all of it, in one place, always available.

Think of it as the hub of everything Piece of Mind Training does for your organisation.

What Is In The App

What Is In Your App Depends On What You Have With Us

The Reach Out App is configured for your organisation based on the training and services you have taken with us. Here is what it can contain:

Your Training Content

Everything covered in your Piece of Mind Training programme videos, how-to guides, the REACH OUT framework, condition information and practical prompts for real situations. Revisit any topic at any time. Refresh your knowledge before a difficult conversation. Use it as a reference when you need it, not just in the days after the course.

Your Organisation's Policies and Procedures

Your wellbeing policy, your absence management procedures, your return to work process, your internal support contacts and referral pathways all built directly into your app. No more searching through shared drives or policy documents at the moment you actually need the information. Everything is right there, specific to your organisation, always up to date.

Updated Content When Things Change

Employment law changes. Guidance evolves. New research emerges. When legislation or best practice shifts, your app content is updated to reflect it. Your learners and managers are always working from current information, not what was accurate when they attended training two years ago.

Additional Training Content As You Add It

When your organisation adds further training with us a manager awareness programme, additional qualification levels, bespoke content for a specific team that content is added to your app. The more you invest in your people through Piece of Mind Training, the more comprehensive your app becomes.

Piece of Mind Staff Care Access

For organisations who have taken Piece of Mind Staff Care, employees can access and book appointments with our therapy and wellbeing team directly through the app. No searching for a contact number. No wondering who to call. Direct access to real support, when someone is ready to reach out for it.

Supervision Support for Mental Health First Aiders

For organisations that have chosen to include supervision support as part of their provision, Mental Health First Aiders can connect with and book supervision sessions with the Piece of Mind Training team directly through the app. Supporting the people who support others is essential. The app makes it straightforward.

What The Reach Out App Is

Your App. Your Brand. Your Organisation.

The Reach Out App is not a generic resource shared across every organisation we work with. It is configured specifically for yours.

Your organisation’s name. Your colours. Your policies. Your internal contacts. Your support pathways. When your employees open the app it looks and feels like something that belongs to your organisation because it does.

For managers completing our Manager Mental Health Awareness Training, the bespoke app means everything they need to do their role well is presented in the language and structure of your own organisation. There is nothing to translate or interpret. It just works.

What The Reach Out App Is

Training Is The Beginning. The App Is What Comes Next.

Most training providers deliver a course and move on. The relationship ends when the invoice is paid.

We think about it differently. The training day is where things start. The Reach Out App is what makes sure those things keep going.

Your learners have the confidence to act when it matters. Your managers have the clarity to do their role well. Your Mental Health First Aiders have the ongoing support they need to keep doing something that takes real courage. And your organisation has a living, growing tool that reflects everything you have invested in your people.

That is not a product. That is a partnership.

Ian Young

Training & Development

Tagline: Grounded, real and genuinely hard to forget.

Ian is an experienced therapist whose work spans trauma, addiction, anxiety and recovery. His approach is shaped as much by lived experience as by professional training and that combination makes him exceptionally relatable to the people he works with.

People who’ve worked with Ian consistently say the same thing — he gets it in a way that goes beyond what most trainers can offer. He doesn’t just understand the subject. He understands people.

Within Piece of Mind Training, Ian also plays a key role in business and strategic development, bringing a practical, grounded perspective to how the organisation grows and evolves.

David

David Gowans

Training & Development

Tagline: He’s seen mental health crisis at its most acute. And he knows what actually helps.

David’s background is probably unlike anyone else you’ll meet in a mental health training room.

Twenty-three years on the frontline of emergency services first as a police officer, now as an HCPC-registered practising paramedic. He hasn’t studied stress, trauma and burnout from a distance. He’s carried them, in uniform, responding to people at the absolute worst moments of their lives. He understands the culture that makes asking for help feel like the hardest thing in the world because he’s lived inside that culture.

That frontline experience sits alongside his clinical practice as a qualified hypnotherapist and accredited EFT practitioner. David works with real people navigating real challenges every single week. What he brings to Piece of Mind Training isn’t theoretical. It’s current, grounded and built entirely from the inside out.

As part of the team, David delivers training, practises as a therapist and plays a key role in the development and direction of the organisation making sure that everything Piece of Mind produces is professionally rigorous and genuinely human.

David is responsible for development and ensures that Piece of Mind Training programmes are grounded in real-world application. Not what the textbook says should happen. What actually works when it matters.

Iona

Iona Russell

Growth & Partnerships

Tagline: She’s written the book. Literally.

Iona has spent more than twenty years working at the intersection of human potential and real-world impact — across psychology, coaching, education, broadcasting, the charitable sector and social policy, in both the UK and the USA.

She is a Master Positive Psychology Coach and twice bestselling author who has supported hundreds of people through coaching qualifications and worked alongside some of the most respected names in positive psychology and personal development. As a keynote speaker and leadership advisor, she helps organisations rethink what success and human flourishing actually look like.

But what drives Iona’s commitment to mental health work goes deeper than her professional background. She lost her brother to suicide. That experience — and everything it taught her about the gap between what people are going through and the support available to them — shapes everything she brings to Piece of Mind Training.

At Piece of Mind, Iona leads our partnerships, builds community impact and drives our growth across Scotland and beyond. She brings commercial insight, deep human understanding and a personal reason for being here that no CV can fully capture.

Ann

Ann Stewart

Head of Training

Tagline: The person who makes sure the learning delivers every time.

Ann has spent her career helping people make sense of the things that are weighing on them and finding a way forward when everything feels tough.

Her background is genuinely rare. A qualified teacher, certified hypnotherapist, coach and First Aid for Mental Health practitioner, Ann brings together an understanding of how people learn with a deep, practical knowledge of how people struggle. She still works directly with adults and young people every week supporting those experiencing anxiety, low confidence, emotional distress and the kind of quiet difficulties that don’t always have a name but make everyday life feel impossibly hard.

As a trainer, Ann knows that the best mental health training doesn’t just inform people, it changes how they see themselves and the people around them. She brings that belief into every session she delivers, whether she’s working with a room full of HR professionals or a team who’ve never talked about mental health at work before.

As a therapist, trainer, teacher and mum of three, Ann understands that most people are dealing with far more than anyone around them realises. That understanding is the foundation of everything she does.

At Piece of Mind Training, Ann leads on training quality and consistency, making sure that what we promise is what every learner experiences, every time.

As a trainer, Andy is known for his directness, his warmth and his ability to make people feel genuinely seen. He doesn’t stand behind a slide deck and talk at people. He brings the subject into the room.
