The important thing to understand when dealing with anxiety is that a daily routine is where the magic happens.

By incorporating some form of mindfulness, relaxation or meditation into your routine you will give yourself a much greater chance of dealing with anxiety before it reaches debilitating levels as well as coping when anxiety does creep up on you.

Now that’s not to say you have to sit there cross-legged, fingers pinched with sounds of the rainforest on.

The key is to focus on what helps bring you inner peace and make that a part of your routine.

What Are Some Worst Ways To Treat Anxiety?

As Brits we have one of the worst societal environments for true expression of thoughts and feelings.

The situation is getting better in society as more people become aware and the conversation surrounding mental health is had in the public forum.

But that doesn’t help with the years and years of conditioning that’s already taken place. You may tell your self things like:

    • I just need to toughen up.
    • Just get on with it.
    • No one else has these problems.

All of these thoughts and many more are damaging to you.
Take a step back and know that we’re all human. I myself suffered with anxiety for years and tried to medicate with prescription drugs and alcohol.

You are not alone, you are not broken, we just need to change the record that keeps on playing the wrong song.

What Does Anxiety Lead To If You Left It Without Treatment?

Anxiety can lead to many other problems, but there’s really no way of knowing what a person will develop if they don’t get treatment.

The most common signs of uncontrolled stress or anxiety are physical symptoms like headaches and stomach aches.
A less obvious sign is the buildup of negative thoughts that create more misery in one day than should be possible given your circumstances.

Uncontrolled anxiety can lead to depression because we’re constantly stressed.

What's The Best Natural Treatment For Panic Attacks?

The first port of call to help deal with panic attacks is to reduce and if possible eliminate stimulants like coffee and smoking.

There’s research to suggest that nicotine and other chemicals in cigarette smoke alter pathways in the brain linked to anxiety.

With caffeine I think most of start out drinking it because of the kick we get off it so substituting it out of your diet can do wonders for naturally reducing your levels of anxiety.

A healthy diet and a good sleeping pattern will also work wonders and all of these help fall into place with a good routine.

What Are The Natural Treatments For Anxiety Disorder?

I believe you can overcome anxiety without medication. If you’re prepared to do a little bit each day, you’ll see massive compounded results

Here are some suggestions for you

    1. Develop a routine for morning and evening.
    2. Exercise – you don’t have to be in the gym, you can take a walk or go for a run. Just move your body and you’ll feel better straight away
    3. Eat well – you don’t need to change your entire diet all at once but you could start with something small.
    4. Keep a journal – you don’t have to post it online but you could try writing down your thoughts and feelings at the end of each day and you’ll be surprised how much you learn about yourself just through this act alone.
    5. Get a good nights sleep – you’ll start noticing the effects after just one night of getting 7 hours of sleep
    6. Talk to a friend you trust – you don’t need to tell them you have anxiety but you can open up and share with someone you have confidence in and you’ll be surprised how long you’ve needed to talk about things that are bothering you.
    7. Spend time with family or friends you love – you could meet for coffee or you could even bring them into your home for a movie, you don’t have to be with them every day or even every week but you’ll realise that you’re not alone.
    8. Smile – you don’t need to keep this up if it seems false but just try it on for size and you’ll notice how many people smile back at you.

What Is The Best Natural Remedy For Ongoing Anxiety?

There is no “best” natural remedy for ongoing anxiety and it can be hard to find what works best for you. That said, some great targets are getting enough sleep, drinking herbal teas, exercising regularly, reaching out to friends and family for support when needed.

If your underlying anxiety is rooted in a specific cause (i.e., the fear of going into public spaces), try therapy where you gradually work through exposure towards progressively more difficult triggers until your anxiety reduces and disappears altogether.

Can Anxiety Be Cured Without Medication?

Drugs are not the way to deal with anxiety. Drugs are dealing with the symptoms of anxiety and sticking a on them. They’re not dealing with the source and addressing it on a more productive level.

I run a business that my family depends on for basically all of our income. I am raising a son. Being a father comes with its own unique stresses and pressures. Anxiety, however, can be dealt with and reduced (if not eliminated) by taking a proactive approach that addresses the symptoms and the causes in a natural, cost-effective way.

    David

    David Gowans

    Training & Development

Tagline: He’s seen mental health crisis at its most acute. And he knows what actually helps.

David’s background is probably unlike anyone else you’ll meet in a mental health training room.

Twenty-three years on the frontline of emergency services first as a police officer, now as an HCPC-registered practising paramedic. He hasn’t studied stress, trauma and burnout from a distance. He’s carried them, in uniform, responding to people at the absolute worst moments of their lives. He understands the culture that makes asking for help feel like the hardest thing in the world because he’s lived inside that culture.

That frontline experience sits alongside his clinical practice as a qualified hypnotherapist and accredited EFT practitioner. David works with real people navigating real challenges every single week. What he brings to Piece of Mind Training isn’t theoretical. It’s current, grounded and built entirely from the inside out.

As part of the team, David delivers training, practises as a therapist and plays a key role in the development and direction of the organisation making sure that everything Piece of Mind produces is professionally rigorous and genuinely human.

David is responsible for development and ensures that Piece of Mind Training programmes are grounded in real-world application. Not what the textbook says should happen. What actually works when it matters.

    Iona

    Iona Russell

    Growth & Partnerships

Tagline: She’s written the book. Literally.

Iona has spent more than twenty years working at the intersection of human potential and real-world impact — across psychology, coaching, education, broadcasting, the charitable sector and social policy, in both the UK and the USA.

She is a Master Positive Psychology Coach and twice bestselling author who has supported hundreds of people through coaching qualifications and worked alongside some of the most respected names in positive psychology and personal development. As a keynote speaker and leadership advisor, she helps organisations rethink what success and human flourishing actually look like.

But what drives Iona’s commitment to mental health work goes deeper than her professional background. She lost her brother to suicide. That experience — and everything it taught her about the gap between what people are going through and the support available to them — shapes everything she brings to Piece of Mind Training.

At Piece of Mind, Iona leads our partnerships, builds community impact and drives our growth across Scotland and beyond. She brings commercial insight, deep human understanding and a personal reason for being here that no CV can fully capture.

    Ann

    Ann Stewart

    Head of Training

Tagline: The person who makes sure the learning delivers every time.

Ann has spent her career helping people make sense of the things that are weighing on them and finding a way forward when everything feels tough.

Her background is genuinely rare. A qualified teacher, certified hypnotherapist, coach and First Aid for Mental Health practitioner, Ann brings together an understanding of how people learn with a deep, practical knowledge of how people struggle. She still works directly with adults and young people every week supporting those experiencing anxiety, low confidence, emotional distress and the kind of quiet difficulties that don’t always have a name but make everyday life feel impossibly hard.

As a trainer, Ann knows that the best mental health training doesn’t just inform people, it changes how they see themselves and the people around them. She brings that belief into every session she delivers, whether she’s working with a room full of HR professionals or a team who’ve never talked about mental health at work before.

As a therapist, trainer, teacher and mum of three, Ann understands that most people are dealing with far more than anyone around them realises. That understanding is the foundation of everything she does.

At Piece of Mind Training, Ann leads on training quality and consistency, making sure that what we promise is what every learner experiences, every time.
