As a result of
\nthis lack of control you start to feel helpless and struggle to find solutions to deal with your fears.
\nThe more you fight to control your thoughts and worries the more anxious and worried you become.
\nWhat-ifs start to control your life and before you know it you have drastically changed your way of life to
\nstay safe, this normally includes creating boundaries as a coping mechanism. Your thoughts can seem and
\nfeel very real and you start to imagine what if I lose control, what if I embarrass myself, what if I cannot
\nget home and feel safe.
\n[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image _builder_version=”3.0.71″ src=”https:\/\/piece-of-mind.co.uk\/ianyoung-birmingham\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/10\/Anxiety-and-your-sense-of-control.png” show_in_lightbox=”off” url_new_window=”off” use_overlay=”off” sticky=”off” align=”left” always_center_on_mobile=”on” border_style=”solid” force_fullwidth=”off” animation=”off” \/][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.71″ background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” border_style=”solid”]
\nAnxiety differs from person to person but the end result for the individual is the same, the overwhelming
\nfeeling of helplessness. We have no control over the what-ifs and typically people become anxious about
\nfeeling anxious.
\nAnxiety is not something you simply can snap out of. Advice such as just face your fears is meant
\nwith best intentions, but as you try to face your fear you feel such terror that you end up backing out
\nand staying in your safe zone. Over a period of time you can start alienate yourself from social
\ngatherings, friends and family.
\nThere are always things you can do to help you cope. The key thing to remember is you are not going
\nto die, the anxiety will pass and you will be fine.
\nAt the time the feelings of fear are very real and the more you fight them the more intense they
\nseem, the battle with anxiety can be overwhelming especially when no one knows what you are
\ndealing with because you keep it hidden from the world.
\nTools to Help You Cope With Anxiety
\nOne of the most important things to remember about anxiety is that getting better actually
\nhappens inside of you.
\nThere are many ways to help you handle your anxiety but what will eventually help you
\ncure your anxiety is becoming aware of your thoughts and how they influence emotions.
\nThe fear of anxiety creates anxiety. It sounds a little crazy, but those diagnosed with anxiety
\nand panic attacks tend to have a severe fear of anxiety and panic attacks which increases
\nheart rate and in turn triggers an episode of anxiety. Learning not to fear them is part of
\ncoping.
\nReducing the severity of your anxiety will actually help you reduce that level of panic and
\nworry as you’ll start to fear them less. If you learn to stay calm and not to overthink when
\nyou have an anxiety attack, you’ll actually start coping with your attacks better.
\nStopping Your Anxiety Altogether
\nSimply learning to cope with anxiety means not to “deal with.” It’s not quite the same thing
\nas a treatment. Understanding why we have overwhelming levels of anxiety and what
\ntriggers it is the first step to curing it.
\n[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″][et_pb_row][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.71″ background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” border_style=”solid”] Anxiety and your sense of control [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.71″ background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” border_style=”solid”] Anxiety is often related to that feeling of losing control in one or more areas of your life.
